With the development of the 1st4Sport Level 3 qualification and its direct link to the Lawn Tennis Association Coach Licence there are a number of coaches who may have taken qualifications offered by National Governing Bodies or Professional Organisations Internationally who may wish to progress their formal coaching journey to achieve the 1st4Sport Level 3 qualification and enter the coaching pathway in the UK.
This new programme allows a coach to use their previous training, qualifications and career developed evidence to be considered as part of the overall assessment for the 1st4Sport Level 3 qualifications. The RPT appreciate, accept and endorse training and qualifications delivered by other organisations, governing bodies and private training providers and look to assist coaches to be able to use their previous training and qualifications to be able to access the coach education pathway and routes to employment within the UK.

access to the LEVEL 3 pathway course
As part of the pathway programme you need to complete the relevant training prior to being able to apply for the assessment for the 1st4Sport Level 3 certification test. If you have already completed a training course and certification test with any other organisation these can be used towards your training and the evidence required for the Level 3 qualifications.
To meet the most likely combinations we have developed 3 core routes.
ROUTE 1 For coaches who hold a Level 1 with the 1st4Sport/LTA, PTR, USPTA, ITF or a National Governing Body are able to attend the RPT Mark of a Pro Course, the RPT Academy Course the Pathway Course plus a final day coaching assessment against the 1st4Sport Level 3 standards. (9 days in total) ROUTE 2 For coaches who hold a Level 2 with the 1st4Sport/LTA, USPTA, ITF a National Governing Body, hold a PTR Level 3 or the RPT National Professional or Instructor 1 grade are able to attend the RPT Academy Course. Pathway Course plus a final day coaching assessment against the 1st4Sport Level 3 standards (6 days in total) ROUTE 3 For coaches who hold the RPT European Professional or higher are able to attend the RPT Pathway Course plus a final day coaching assessment against the 1st4Sport Level 3 standards (3 days in total) If you have attended courses or hold qualification from any other organisation then please contact the office to discuss the best pathway for you to complete this programme |

route to the lta coach ACCREDITED+ status
To be able to apply for an LTA Coach Licence you will need to complete the following criteria.
Step 1
Once you have successfully completed the RPT Integral and Pathway course the coaching assessments and completed your personal portfolio you will be awarded the 1st4sport level 3 certificate in coaching tennis.
Step 2
Either have (or have had) a rating of 6.1 or pass an LTA play test grade 1
Be LTA registered or have undergone a criminal record check in the last 12 months
Step 3
Have attained a minimum of 15 Training credits
Hold a valid certificate of competence in either First Aid at Work (FAW) or Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW), or will have successfully completed the OFQUAL Level 2 in First Aid.
Attendance on a safeguarding and protection in tennis course.
Please note the issuance of the Coach Licence is solely under the rules and regulations of the LTA and the RPT cannot guarantee that any application for an LTA Coach Licence will be successful

MARK OF A PRO/ACADEMY COURSE
The new RPT Integral course is designed introduce the basic fundamentals of the successful RPT teaching methods and progress through to the more advanced techniques. The course will cover a whole range of on court teaching technqiues including the teaching progressions for more than 20 different strokes, how to identify and correct errors, developing matchplay competitions creactive feeding techniques and the famous Spanish Drills
The RPT teaching method used the ‘tetafime system’ which consists of 4 pillars: physical, technical, tactical, physical and mental, which have been joined, intertwined and interconnected so that any individual can achieve their Ideal Performance State. The method applies to both coaches and players and provides a solid framework for developing a foundation for coaching, business and creating your own coaching philosophy.

PATHWAY COURSE
The Pathway course helps prepare coaches for the 1st4Sport Level 3 assessments. A day of building your personal portfolio based on your career developed experiences, qualification and previous training will help you map your current level of coaching and evidence against the Level 3 Standards. You will also undergo a minimum of 2 on court coaching assessments for group and individual lessons. There will be a minimum of one month personal development time between the 2 on court coaching assessments
